Six months after releasing his acclaimed second album Holding On to a Dream, Sir Was gives him a little brother with this four-track maxi, composed at the same location, in a cabin in the Swedish countryside. A change of mood that shaped the sound of the Scandinavian revelation. After having had to play louder on his first LP to drown out the noise of the tram, Joel Wästberg was finally able to work in silence, and therefore in a more delicate way. We can hear it on this EP, which develops its vaporous side, with the super-catchy Letter, brilliant cosmic pop song with a funky touch, to be classified somewhere between Tame Impala and Breakbot. Behind, This Is My Bonus and Don’t Wait for Me dig the “lo-fi psyche” groove with superposition of fleecy synths and, above, these spoken-chanted choruses with nonchalance, giving the impression that Sir Was is hovering in the air. over his own music. And that’s probably what’s going on in his head. © Smaël Bouaici / Qobuz
