Some tracks simply wait for their moment. “No Title” by Nodey spent about a decade drifting through the depths of YouTube before landing in the hands of Generation Z—who adopted it as their anthem. It is an instrumental piece—nameless and wordless—yet more eloquent than many a speech. On TikTok and out on the streets, the track has spent weeks accompanying videos created by young people determined to make themselves heard. It is an unlikely trajectory—from a YouTube short film to the top of Shazam searches—that speaks volumes about our times.
Behind this phenomenon is Đôn Nguyễn Ngọc, known as Nodey, a French-Vietnamese DJ and producer born and raised in Paris. The son of Vietnamese immigrants, he first cut his teeth in the French rap scene, becoming a sought-after producer for artists like Youssoupha, Seth Gueko, and Scred Connexion—even earning a gold record for “Chanson Française.” Influenced by the likes of DJ Shadow, Blockhead, and DJ Mehdi, he eventually took a one-way ticket to Saigon. There, he fused his hip-hop beats with traditional Vietnamese vinyl records inherited from his family—a blend of two cultures that became his signature, from the EP “Atrahasis” to the captivating “Vinasounds,” a collaboration with singer Hương Thanh.
Nodey: The untitled track that speaks for an entire generation
“No Title” itself originated as a commission for the YouTuber Cyprien, intended for his short film “Technophobe”—the story of a man who develops an allergy to technology. For the drums, Nodey drew inspiration from U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday”—”something a bit martial, almost warrior-like,” he explains—layered over chords filled with hope. The result is a nostalgic, radiant track, poised between melancholy and determination—a piece that, curiously, fits perfectly with footage of crowds on the move. A soundtrack without a film—a piece that millions of listeners kept in their heads without ever knowing who created it.
The rest of the story wasn’t written by anyone in particular; it was shaped by social media. Long sought after from all corners—and for a long time unavailable on streaming platforms—the track was finally released officially via the label Studio ÉÈ. Its popularity exploded, climbing to the top of the Shazam charts and racking up massive streaming numbers. As for Nodey, he admits he’s stunned: “If it’s become an anthem, I’m incredibly honored.” A high-octane, hardcore remix has even emerged, ensuring that this “untitled” track can now also be heard in clubs.
At PlusFM, this track is already in our rotation—it’s exactly the kind of gem that proves electronic music doesn’t need words to say everything. Tune in, turn up the volume, and let these nameless notes carry you through the night—long into the early hours.
