This is a collaboration that screams London dancefloor. Joe Goddard, the tireless co-founder of Hot Chip, joins forces with singer Findia for “Collide,” an exclusive track created for the DJ-Kicks compilation of TEED, the legendary mix compilation released by !K7. These are two names that the British electronic music scene already knows well—and whose collaborations are always a joy to see.
A quick reminder for those who might have been living under a rock: Joe Goddard has been a key figure in British dance-pop for over two decades. Whether with Hot Chip, The 2 Bears, or as a solo artist, he has established a unique formula: melodic anthems built on solid club grooves. Her single “Gabriel” with Valentina remains an instant classic, her remix of the Chemical Brothers’ “Wide Open” was nominated for a Grammy, and her album “Harmonics” showcased her at her best—surrounded by a host of guests, from Hayden Thorpe to Ibibio Sound Machine and, notably, Findia.
Joe Goddard and Findia Join the “Collide”: British House at its Peak
Because that’s the whole story: the vocalist, based in South London, was already the voice behind two tracks on “Harmonics,” including the euphoric “Destiny,” pure dance-pop with pulsating bass. Her presence on “Collide” thus extends an already well-established studio collaboration—and a musical friendship that Joe Goddard intends to cultivate, as he plans to release the singer’s music on his label, Greco Roman. The duo has even shared the stage, from UK festivals to opening for the most prestigious acts.
On “Collide,” the magic happens again: Goddard’s production, a blend of warm house and shimmering synths, glides seamlessly beneath Findia’s smooth, sunny vocals, and the track is destined for the club—one of those tracks that TEED rightly picked out for its mix, alongside exclusives from Jacques Greene, Austin Ato, and Casino Times. When such a discerning curator invites you to his table, you know the dish is a winner.
Joe Goddard’s busy schedule doesn’t end there: last year he already returned to Permanent Vacation with the EP “You,” five tracks that oscillate between disco, house, and subtle folk, featuring his Hot Chip bandmate Alexis Taylor. At this rate, the busiest man in British electronic music is clearly not about to rest.
At plusfm, “Collide” is already getting spins: it’s exactly the kind of track that bridges the gap between intelligent pop and elegant house, with a vocal performance that elevates everything. Plug in, turn up the volume, and let the worlds collide — until late into the night.
